For as long as the Falke family can remember, there has existed a thread indelibly connected to South Africa.
The German knitting family started their business in 1895, Schmalenberg, Four generations later the Falke clan began dyeing beautiful carpet yarns in South Africa in 1974. They later opened their sock knitting mill in Atlantis, Cape Town in the early 1980’s and moved the factory to its current location in Bellville, Cape Town in the mid-eighties. In 1996 Falke acquired their hosiery plant in Rosslyn, Pretoria.
Being able to produce in South Africa is an inspiration and a privellege. At Falke Bellville and Rosslyn we have a collective of 650 craftsmen and women who have weaving and knitting in their blood, as much as the Falke family does.
During the challenging years of the Eighties in South Africa, our knitters were the lifeblood of our business. They still are. We walked this road together, and every stitch adds up. Every step is a step closer to a better way.
