BRAD YUI

Brad started running to clear his head after long days at work, with evening loops along the Durban promenade. A decade later, the evening loops have become ultra distances, and the promenade has given way to mountain passes and long stretches of empty road.

He now splits his time between road and trail, with the Comrades Marathon as the fixed point on his calendar every June. He’s known among his running club for a steady, patient pace and an almost obsessive attention to preparation, from training blocks planned months ahead to the socks he trusts on race day.

“The long runs teach you to keep things simple,” he says. “Find what works, look after it, and don’t change it the night before.”
